Male or Female OB-GYN ?

Does an OB-GYN gender matter to you ?

I spoke to these ladies from Cuba when i learned that it is more common in Cuba to have male OB-GYN than Female. they said they would rather have a male OB-GYN, which i find interesting. I'm not sure if it's a cultural. In 2003, I consulted an OB-GYN doctor who worked in a big well-known hospital in Cebu City. I was a walk in patient. i was surprised, and taken a back, to find this Filipino OB-GYN was a man. i was somewhat embrassed but felt awkward to object strongly to being examined by him. anyway, he was a good looking man in his early 30's and he was married and had children. He told me not to worry, that he had seen many ladies and examined them before I ever went to see him. I have noticed since coming to America that many OB-GYN in the US are women.

I doesn't matter to me now, whether male or female, since I had experienced both. He did a great job though. I think male OB-GYN are cool most especially they're good looking ha ha. :)

When I was pregnant with my son I sought out a female OB-GYN, figuring that she could relate to my situation. They have you meet with all the doctors in the practice, as whoever is on call when you deliver, is who delivers your child. By the time my daughter was born, I had been disappointed with my "female" doc (who actually delivered my son) and found one of the male docs much more personable and easy to talk to. I scheduled most of my appt.s with him, and fortunately, he was the doc on call when my little girl was born. It all depends on the doctor. I know that NOW!
